Cork city has a number of associations with the rebellion in 1798.In Gallows Green the triangle of land west of school 12 men from Ballymacoda were hung for their part in the rebellion.

The Sheares brothers, leaders in the rebellion were hung in Dublin.They lived in Sheares Villas in Glasheen road and Sheares street near the courthouse is named after them. Another places in the Greenmount area named in memory of the 1798 rebellion is 98 street.
